Transforming Privilege: resources, events and discussion groups for your active anti-racist journey

Welcome!  Transforming Privilege is dedicated to those committed to learning about their own privilege, white supremacy and racism. We curate and create resources to assist all of us on our path to leading actively anti-racist lives.

This space is diverse and inclusive, rejects othering of all types, and amplifies the voices of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of color). We see the violence of white supremacy and racism and the trauma it causes. We are working towards a more equitable future.

The work to be actively anti-racist can be uncomfortable, make us question our current belief systems and may even require us to look at our life choices differently. This community supports and holds each other accountable as we walk our paths together.

We're so happy you're here!

TRANSFORMATION IN ACTION WELCOMES TERENCE LESTER

SEPTEMBER 15th at 6pm PT

Mr. Lester is a speaker, activist, author, and thought leader in the realm of systemic poverty

A CONVERSATION ABOUT HOMELESSNESS AND RACE

We  interview Terence about the intersectionality of race and being  unhoused, and about trauma and being unhoused. We will talk with him  about his new book When We Stand and he'll share how sacrifice, being  proximate and the power of an invitation is really all some folks need  to join us on the journey. Terence's organization Love Beyond Walls in  Atlanta has been working with the unhoused for over 25 years and were  instrumental in getting portable hand washing stations set up in many  cities across the country when covid hit. We're thrilled to welcome him  and learn from his experience and extraordinary example of compassion in action.

WHERE DO I START?

By being willing to look inward. Shifting our gaze from the obvious racists "out there" to the origins of white supremacy in our own lives. Author and educator Rachel Ricketts advises that you're not ready to do the work if you're not ready to feel uncomfortable. So let's get uncomfortable together.

Here are a few ideas for your first step
